Education recruitment agency branches out across Yorkshire

York-based education recruitment agency, Supported Recruitment Ltd, is branching out into West Yorkshire, as it opens a new office in Leeds this summer.

As the agency nears its second anniversary, they welcome Helen Russell on board, as Co-Director at Supported Recruitment Leeds. She will head up the Leeds operation alongside fellow director James Robinson. Together they will retain all of the values and ethos which has made Supported Recruitment such a success over the past two years.

Supported Recruitment, which is run by teachers for teachers, currently supplies and recruits teachers for primary schools in York and the surrounding region. The new Leeds base means that they will be able to provide their services across more of Yorkshire. The team at Supported are passionate about supplying and recruiting teachers who are properly prepared to take on a teaching role. They also have specialist teaching coaches who support their supply teachers by working alongside them in the classroom.

Helen is a qualified teacher with over 13 years’ experience of senior leadership across the primary phase. She started her teaching career in Barnsley, specialising in the early years and KS1 phases and has held Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher positions in Penistone. She also has extensive experience supporting teachers, RQTs, NQTs, students and Teaching Assistants across a large three-form entry school, making her a perfect fit for the Supported team.

Director and founder of Supported Recruitment, Richard Robinson said: “We’re thrilled to have Helen joining us and are very excited to extend the business further into Yorkshire. Helen’s passion for education and continual drive to ensure all children and staff become ‘the best versions of themselves’ and her obvious commitment to ensuring staff feel valued and supported to progress and enjoy their teaching careers, chimes perfectly with our mission to do everything we can to make sure our supply teachers are supported to be successful.”

Helen adds: “I’ve loved my teaching career so far and have particularly enjoyed mentoring and coaching colleagues across the primary phase, identifying personal strengths and designing bespoke CPD opportunities to ensure all members of the team succeed. I can now bring all of this experience to Supported Recruitment, working with Richard, James and the team to get the best for our supply teachers and the schools in which they are placed. I’m really looking forward to this next phase of my career.”

Over the last year, Supported Recruitment have worked with more than 20 schools and now have over 40 teachers who are registered with them and ready to work in primary schools in the new academic year. These teachers all have the opportunity to take full advantage of the support that is offered by the Supported Recruitment coaches.

Education recruitment agency keep it in the family as they celebrate their first anniversary

A York-based education recruitment agency, run by teachers for teachers, is going from strength to strength as it celebrates its first anniversary this week.

Supported Recruitment Ltd are reveling in the success of their first year as they welcome two new members of staff in to the fold. And what’s more they are keeping it in the family.

James Robinson, the new Co-Director at Supported Recruitment, is the brother of experienced primary school teacher and founder of Supported Recruitment, Richard Robinson. Richard and his wife Gemma launched the company on 1 September 2017.

James has twelve years’ experience in recruitment, three of which have been in a management capacity. He has a wealth of experience in placing people into both permanent and temporary contracts.

James says “Having worked in recruitment for 12 years with large corporate organisations, the opportunity to work within a small, family business which makes a direct difference to the quality of local education has been fantastic. I believe that our teachers should be given the recognition and support they deserve and this is the ethos behind the support packages we provide. We want to give teachers every possible chance and opportunity to thrive within this wonderful profession.”

“What Richard and Gemma have already achieved in such a short time at Supported Recruitment is fantastic and together we’re hoping to grow the company further. I’m really excited to be part of the team, working alongside my brother and sister-in-law and to all the opportunities the new academic year brings!”

The team is also strengthened with the appointment of Ruth Jobson, an experienced teacher with over 17 years of experience across the primary age ranges. She supports, advises and mentors the Supported supply teachers during their time in school.

Through her school-to-school support work, Ruth has gained a wealth of experience developing teachers through coaching and mentoring in different York primary schools.  She is very well respected across York’s teaching community and will fit perfectly into Supported Recruitment’s teacher-centred ethos. Ruth will work closely with Richard and Gemma, supporting teachers at all levels within primary schools.

Supported Recruitment Ltd supplies and recruits teachers for primary schools in York and the surrounding region and are passionate about supplying and recruiting teachers who are properly prepared to take on a teaching role. They have specialist teaching coaches who support their supply teachers by working alongside them in the classroom.

Richard says “We’ve had an incredibly busy and rewarding year since we launched last September and it’s wonderful to now have my brother James and Ruth on board to help us go even further.”

“The new team are all passionate about making a positive difference to the education of primary school children in York. To do this we invest in our teachers, prepare them, coach and mentor them through working alongside them in the classroom. We want them to feel confident walking in to a classroom and enjoy the rewards that teaching can provide. Importantly, we will also help our teachers to progress in their careers. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!”

Supported Recruitment take on Golfathon for charity

Supported Recruitment, our colleagues and supporters have taken on a mammoth Golfathon this week to raise money for charity.

The team at Supported Recruitment Ltd, led by Director Richard Robinson, took on the golfing challenge to raise funds for the Candlelighters, the company’s chosen charity. Supported Recruitment chose the charity as they want to raise funds and awareness of the incredible work Candlelighters do to supports families and children affected by cancer in Yorkshire.

The Golfathon challenge took place on Tuesday 29 May at Forest of Galtres Golf Club. The team of ten golfers took on the gruelling challenge of completing three rounds of golf in one day, teeing off at 7.00am and arriving at the nineteenth hole just as darkness was drawing in. Between them, they walked over 150 miles and hit over 3,000 golf balls. Six of the other golfers are also teachers.

When the golfers eventually made it to the nineteenth hole, trophies were handed out for such accolades as ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’. The proud trophy winners were Mikey Warriner, Tom Robinson and Darren Bebb.

Richard said “I wanted Supported Recruitment to give something back to the community and raise funds for charity, so as I’m a keen golfer, I had the brainwave of roping some of my friends and colleagues into the Golfathon!

“The long day, the pain and blisters were all worth it as we’ve raised over £2,000 for Candlelighters. They do such amazing work supporting people throughout Yorkshire who have been touched by children’s cancer. We’re absolutely thrilled with the total we have raised, but the fundraising page is still open should anyone still want to donate to the cause: https://give.everydayhero.com/uk/york-golf-challenge.”

Brian Curran, Candlelighters Corporate Fundraiser said “We are grateful to Richard and everyone at Supported Recruitment, as well as everyone who participated to make the day such a success. We are proud to support families in the York area and make life a little easier for people dealing with the challenge of a lifetime.”

Supported Recruitment Ltd is an education recruitment agency, run by teachers for teachers. New company brings fresh approach to teacher recruitment

An education recruitment agency, run by teachers for teachers, launches in York this week.

Supported Recruitment Ltd supplies and recruits teachers for primary schools in York and the surrounding region. It is the brainchild of experienced primary school teacher Richard Robinson, who will run the agency alongside his teacher wife Gemma. Together, they have over 30 years’ experience in the primary sector.

The couple are passionate about supplying and recruiting teachers who are properly prepared to take on a teaching role and who are fully supported throughout their teaching contract, be it temporary or permanent.

Richard says, “As a leader and a teacher, I have worked with many supply teachers over the years and recognise that it can be a very difficult task to go into a new school and teach effectively, often at short notice.”

“Many agencies do a great job finding their teachers work and assigning them to a short-term job; however at Supported, we have a fresh approach. We invest in our teachers, prepare them, coach and mentor them and provide shared resources and toolkits so they can feel confident walking in to a classroom regardless of how long their contract is. Importantly we will also help our teachers to progress in their careers.”

“We’re really excited about launching the company and have already had several enquiries from schools interested in our services and teachers who like our approach to recruitment. We want to deliver a service where everyone feels fully supported and able to succeed.”

Richard has 15 years experience at Key Stage 2 and has worked as Assistant Head at Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy and Deputy Head at Haxby Road Primary Academy. He is a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) with a particular focus on literacy and he has worked as a mentor and coach with teachers and leaders across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Gemma has 18 years experience of working in EYFS and Key Stage 1. She has worked at a number of nurseries and schools and has a particular interest in Early Years.
